The initial, primary and secondary consolidation response of soft clay reinforced with a granular column under isolated loading

This paper presents the assessment of consolidation and creep settlements an isolated circular footing supported on soft clay samples reinforced with a single granular column. Clay (300 mm dia., 400 high) were formed from reconstituted kaolin remoulded sleech (exhibiting significant creep). These tested using chambers various features to capture settlement under constant foundation loading. In one model, (70 dia.) was by 40 dia. column crushed basalt. The footings, without column, subjected five vertical loading increments: 60, 120, 180, 240 300 kPa in case kaolin. sleech, increments were: 120 180 kPa. Each test lasted approximately ten months. kaolin, reduction factor marginal, although it considerably better for sleech. Kaolin exhibited marginal low moderate bearing pressure, which increased substantially high pressures. Creep more prominent at all levels very interesting finding investigation is that factors due are similar order loadings.
